We are a body of believers committed to worshipping and serving Jesus Christ. As a Missionary Baptist Church, we join with like-minded Christians in spreading the gospel around the world. St. John is "The Church That Cares." Christ reached out to people of all ages and backgrounds and at our church we desire to do the same. St. John is a place for everyone to study the Scriptures, fellowship together, and minister to others.

Pastor Breonus M. Mitchell

Pastor Breonus M. Mitchell, Sr. is the Founding Pastor of the Greater Grace Temple Community Church. Greater Grace Temple Community Church is a church that is dedicated to “transforming members into ministers through a spirit of excellence.” Established on April 27, 1997 the congregation currently stands at a membership of 2000, of which, three fourths of the membership are new converts, baptized personally by Pastor Mitchell.

Pastor Mitchell was born April 6, 1973 to Delores Mitchell. He has a twin brother, Cleonus Mitchell; three sisters Jenell, Cheryl, and La Jessie.

Pastor Mitchell graduated a Distinguished Scholar from Donelson Christian Academy in 1991. He continued his education at American Baptist College, in which he received his Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies in 2001. He has completed post-graduate work at Georgetown College Lexington, KY and Regents Park – Oxford University Oxford, England. He is currently completing his MDiv at David Lipscomb University Nashville, TN.

Pastor Mitchell has commitments to various religious, social, civil, and political identities. He is a lifetime member of the National Association for the Advancement of Color People. Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce; Interdenominational Ministers Fellowship of Middle TN; National Baptist Convention of America; assistant recording secretary for the Evangelical Board of the National Baptist Convention of America; and Board Member of the Middle Tennessee Regional Advisory Committee for HIV Awareness; Board of Directors Oasis Center of Nashville, TN, and Metropolitan Nashville Davidson County Parking and Traffic Commissioner.

Pastor Mitchell is a gifted pastor and preacher. His exegetical integrity, homiletic skills, and hermeneutical sincerity have privileged him to preach throughout the United States and in the Bahamian Islands. His desire to be himself and not become conformed to other ecclesiastical personalities makes his preaching unforgettable and personal.

Pastor Mitchell was married December 25, 1996 to the former Lakisha Fitzgerald. They were blessed on February 17, 2003 with there first child, Breonus M. Mitchell, Jr.
